Don’t Stop Now!

     People in the cafe shouted. Kate and I ran to the window. There was no one there. Then I turned to kate and  put my arm around her.

‘Are you all right?’ I asked.

‘Yes,’ she said. ‘I think so.’

‘what is it?’ someone shouted and a short red-faced man ran into the room…..

I read “Don’t Stop Now!”. This book is crime fiction. It is written by Philip Prowse and published in 2005. One day, when the main character, matt, was in the caffe, the window is broken in there. A stone was throw into the cafe and written ‘Don’t stop now!’. A owner of the cafe won’t tell about it. The danger is imminent to him and his daughter.

I can enjoy this book because it wasthrilling all the way through.

The Three Musketees

     It was April 1625. Queen Anne of France was in her bedroom with her maid, Constance. The Queen was very unhappy. The King wanted her to wear some diamonds at a dance. The diamonds were a present to the Queen from the King. The dance was in two weeks’ time.

     ‘I cannot wear the diamonds. I gave them to the Duke of Buckingham,’ Anne told Constance. ‘But now the Duke is in England. The King will be very angry.’

I read “The Three MUsketees”. The maincharacter, Artagnan, who had lived in France wants to become a King musketeer. But before he can have the job, he has to meet many challenges and prove that he is a strong and brave fighter. Can he protect the Queen from the Cardinal evil plans? And will he be ab le to stop the beautiful Milady from murdering the Duke of Buckingham?

There are many characters in this book and this book’s words are ten thiusand, so it was difficult for me to finish reading this book. But the story is interesting.

Rich Man, Poor Man

  One day a postman came to my village. The postman brought me a letter from my son, Saul.

‘Is your name Adam?’ the postman asked.

‘Yes,’ I said.

‘I’ve got a letter for you.’ The postman read the envelope: ‘Adam of the village of Minta.’

‘A letter for me. Who is it from?’ I asked.

The postman looked at the envelope again. ‘From Saul,’ he said. He gave me the letter and walked away.

  

I read “Rich Man, Poor Man”. An old man, Adamdam, living in a small village receives a money order for 100 pounds enclosed in a letter from his son, Saul. To convert the money order he needs to travel to go to the big post office in the city. But he runs into trouble as he has no identification to claim the money. One trouble leads to another leaving Adam feeling quite poor again.

I feel a dufference between rich man and poor man. I was sad to find that Adam couldn’t get a money order for his son.

Billy Budd

     It was the summer of 1797. Britain and France were at war. The British Navy was fighting the Ferench Navy.

Edward Vere was the captain of a British warship. Captain Vere wanted more sailors for his ship.

Captain Vere’s ship was called HMS Indomitable. It had a large crew and it had seventy-four big guns.

I read “Billy Budd”. Britai and France are at war in 1797. British wardships are fighting French warships. Young Billy Budd arrives on the Brutish wardship, Indomitable. Billy is  strong and handsome. Most fo the sailors on the ship like Billy. But he has an enemy-John Claggart, the master-at-arms. Claggart hates Billy. And he has a plan. He will make trouble for the young sailor.

I thougt that I want to be Billy Budd because he is strong and hard-working. I can read this book smoothly.

Good Wives

     This book is a story about four sisters-Meg,Jo,Beth and Amy March. They lived in a small town in the state of Massachusetts, in North America.

Mr March, the girls’ father, was a minister. He worked at a church in the town. Five yearss before the beginning of this story, the American Civil war had stared.

I read “Good Wives”. The March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, Have grown up. They are young women now. Each sister has a different plan for her future life. Meg is going to marry John Brooke. She wants to have children. Jo wants an exciting life and she wants to be　a famous writer.Amy wants to be a painter and she wants to travel to Europe. Beth wants to stay at home. She wants to have a happy, quite life. And what about the girls’ best friend, Laurie? What will his future be?

After I read this book, it warms my heart. I could see good connection of sisters. I got to want siaters.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

‘Tom!’

There was no reply.

‘Tom!’

There was no reply.

‘Where is he?’ said Aunt Polly.

She went to the door of the kitchen and looked into the garden. ‘Tom!’ she shouted again.

I read ‘ The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’. The main character Tom Sawyer lives with his Aunt Polly in St Petersburg, Missouri. Tom is a cunning and naughty child and dosen’t like school and  his friend, huckleberry Finn who is a homeless, are always in trouble. One night,Tom and Huckleberry go to a graveyard to see ghost in the might night. They see a fright there.

When I was a child,  I watched the movie of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in Japanese, so I was concerned this book in English. Recently, I watched the movie of Huckleberry Finn. It is also interesting for me.

The Monkey’s Paw

     It was cold and dark out in the road and the rain did not stop for a minute. But in the little living=room of number 12 Castle Road it was nice and warm.

I read “The Monkey Paw”. This book is a horror novel. One of the main persons, White family lives in the suburbs. One day, there is a knock at the door. A man is standing outside and has brought the hand of a small, dead animal – a monkey’s paw which can come true three dreams . But he tell them that you shouldn’t use this paw…..

I don’t like horror story, so when I read this book, I feel scary. I could enjoy reading this book.

BLOOD DIAMONDS

     “we’re on the front page,” said Annie. Shepherd. She smiled at Harley Kirkpatrick, and gave him a coffee and that day’s Daily Post.

I read “Blood Diamonds”. This book is about guns and diamonds. Harley Kirkpatrick and Annie Shepherd are journalists and they have investigated blood diamonds. And they found Erik Van Delft who is a businessman and relates to buying and selling of blood diamonds and guns and searchs him…

I thought that Kirkpatrick and Shepherd are good pair. This book was thrilling for me.

Next Door to Love

My friend Janet looked out of my living room window.

‘Who is that?’ she asked.

I went to look. ‘He lives here,’ I said.

I read Next Door to Love. This book has six chapters. The main characters are Stella who is a cook in a restaurant and Tony who is Stella’s neighbor. And Jenet is

also one of the main characters. This book is a love

story and interesting.  After I read this on

e, I became happy because Stella could find nice guy.

Bad Love

I meet Dr.Jack Daly in August.

It was a Saturday afternoon. I was at a party in Denver at my friend Judy Kaplan’s house. We were in the backyard and it was hot. It’s always hot in the summer in Denver. It was a good party. About fifty people were there were drinks and good food.

I read “Bad Love”. This book’s main characters are Flick who is a police and Jack who is a doctor. They met in a party and became friends. In the party they did the appointment which they’ll meet later.But she heard Jack committed suicide. She went to see him. She saw him died and thought that he might be killed because he is lefty but had a gun in a right hand. From there her investigation started.

I thought that their love story will start but their mystery story started.
